Changing the Way You Workout One Spritz At A TimeBy John Davis - November 24, 2015
Music is my key to having a good workout. So is drinking water. Spritz combines the two in an awesome package. It’s a durable water bottle and hydration tracker with quality speakers to give you everything you need for a good workout.
Features of the Spritz Water Bottle
1. Water bottle
As a water bottle, Spritz gets the job done. It holds 13.5 or 20.3 ounces and twists apart at the bottom for easy cleaning by hand or the dishwasher. The leak-proof top features a carabiner, so you can clip it to your backpack or belt. It also fits in most bottle holders on bicycles.
The bottle itself is durable. It’s made of a unique BPA-free shatterproof plastic and is covered in silicone rubber, making Spritz capable of handling your toughest workouts at your side. There’s no need to treat this bottle daintily.
As far as appearances go, this bottle looks as good as you think you do after an intense training. The bottle is black with sleek lines down the side. Each bottle comes with four removable colored rings. You get blue, pink, green and orange and they twist on and off.
2. Hydration Tracker
Spritz works with your Android or iOS smartphone and includes a hydration tracker. The tracker will remind you when it’s time to drink more water. Though the feature is not automated like the glowing coolness of HidrateMe, you can control when you receive alerts by setting a timer.
3. Speaker System
The Spritz speaker is the main event. Music can be played by connecting the speakers to your phone with Bluetooth, or by putting music on an SD card and inserting it into the slot on the bottle. With either method, you can control the music from the app or using the built-in controls.
Using Bluetooth provides a couple of other benefits as well. First of all, it untethers you from the bottle. Using Bluetooth you can roam up to 33 feet away and still maintain a connection. Second, phone calls can project through the speaker though you must use your phone’s mic to respond to calls. The downside of connecting through Bluetooth is that phone calls will pause your music. Never fun when working out…
Spritz isn’t your typical portable, Bluetooth speaker. It uses Bongiovi DPS, a technology that enhances audio to make it sound how it’s supposed to. Don’t worry- it doesn’t affect the overall song, just the volume of the important sounds. On top of that, the speaker projects 360 degrees at 95dB. To compare, Beats by Dr. Dre projects at 115dB, and Spritz approaches this range at a fraction of the cost.
4. Bonus Features
At full charge, the Spritz battery should last 8-10 hours using the same type of battery used by iPhones.
Also, the entire water bottle, including the speakers, is waterproof. Built up to IPX4 standards, the bottle can resist being out in the rain or even being dropped in a puddle.
Spritz Final Thoughts
Right now, Spritz is only available through Indiegogo. The product isn’t ready for shipping just yet. But with an estimated shipping date of February 2016, it shouldn’t be long.
You can pre-order a Spritz workout kit for $35 plus shipping (it’s expected to retail at $79). Be forewarned that shipping might get ‘ya. One customer complained about $20 shipping to Florida and another about $15 shipping somewhere else in the US. Spritz is manufactured in Hong Kong and contains a lithium battery, causing the high shipping costs. Even with expensive shipping, Spritz seems like a good value. It has the potential to completely change the way you exercise.
